Buying and using a JumboSIM

What you are buying, what your phone has to support, when you can have your money back, and what happens when a plan does not work.

01What JumboSIM is

JumboSIM sells prepaid travel data plans delivered as an eSIM — a SIM written into your phone instead of pushed into a tray. The service is operated by Deep Fried Mobile Inc. ("we", "us").

You choose a plan for a destination, pay by card, and receive an activation code by email. There is no contract, no subscription and no account: a plan is a one-off purchase that ends when its data or its validity runs out.

Buying, or using this site, means accepting these terms.

02What your phone needs

Two things have to be true before any travel eSIM — ours or anyone's — can work:

  • Your phone supports eSIM. Most models sold since roughly 2019 do. On iPhone, Settings → General → About showing an EID number means the hardware is capable.
  • Your phone is carrier-unlocked. A phone locked to a home network will refuse a second operator's profile, whatever you paid for it.

Checking both is your responsibility before you buy, and it is the single most common reason a travel eSIM disappoints someone. That is why checkout asks you to confirm it. If you are unsure, ask us before you pay — and if you have already paid but not yet installed the plan, section 05 gives you your money back.

03Prices and payment

Prices are shown in US dollars. The price displayed at the moment you press pay is the price that applies; nothing on the site is a reserved rate or a price guarantee, and the catalogue behind it can change without notice to us.

Payment is handled by Stripe, on Stripe's own checkout page. We never see or hold your card number. Your purchase is complete when Stripe confirms the payment to us — not when you close the tab, so a lost connection at the wrong moment does not cost you the order.

04Delivery

Your plan is delivered as an activation code and QR code, shown on your order page and sent to the email address you gave at checkout. Delivery is normally within a minute of payment.

  • The activation code is a bearer credential — whoever holds it can install the plan, once. Treat it like a ticket, and do not post it anywhere public.
  • One install. A profile installs on one device. If you delete it from your phone it is gone; ask us and we will look at issuing a replacement.
  • Your order page stays available at the link we send you, so the code is not lost with the email.

If nothing arrives, check the address you typed and your spam folder, then email us with your order link. A payment that took your money without delivering a plan is our problem to fix, and section 05 covers it.

05Refunds and cancellation

Plainly, so you can read it before you buy rather than after.

  • Not installed it yet? Full refund, within 30 days of purchase. No reason needed. We cancel the profile with our supplier and return the money to the card you paid with. This is the rule that covers the common cases — your trip changed, you bought the wrong destination, or your phone turned out to be locked or not eSIM-capable after all.
  • Installed it, and it will not connect? Tell us. We will work through it with you, and if we cannot make it work we will issue a replacement profile or refund you. You are not left holding a plan that does not function.
  • Already used the data? No refund. A prepaid plan is consumed as you use it, and we cannot un-sell data that has been delivered. We do not refund the unused remainder of a started plan. Validity runs from first connection rather than from purchase, so a plan you never installed does not quietly expire before you travel.

How to ask: use our contact form and include your order link. A refund reaches your card in whatever time your bank takes, typically five to ten days.

Your statutory rights are unaffected. Consumer law where you live may give you more than this policy does — including, in the UK and EU, a right to withdraw from a distance purchase of digital content. Nothing here removes a right the law says cannot be signed away, and where the law gives you more, the law wins.

06Coverage, speed and fair use

A travel eSIM works by roaming onto local mobile networks. What you actually get therefore depends on the operators in that country, their coverage where you happen to be standing, and their capacity at that moment.

  • We do not guarantee coverage, connection speed, or that a particular local network will be available.
  • Some plans are subject to fair-use limits or reduced speeds after a data threshold, as set by the underlying operator.
  • Indoor coverage, rural areas, borders and busy transport hubs behave the way local networks behave, not the way we would like.

A network that is slow or busy is not the same thing as a plan that does not work. Section 05 covers the second.

07Data only — no phone number

JumboSIM plans are data plans. They do not include voice calls or SMS and they do not give you a phone number. Calling and messaging work over the data connection through apps such as WhatsApp, FaceTime, Signal or Telegram. One consequence worth planning for: a bank that sends login codes by SMS will send them to your home line, so keep that line in the phone.

Your existing SIM stays in the phone and keeps your own number. You choose which line carries data, so you can leave your home line on for calls while paying nothing for its roaming data. Anything your home operator charges you remains between you and them.

08Using the site fairly

Use JumboSIM to research and buy data for your own travel. Do not scrape or bulk-harvest the site or its endpoints, automate requests around our caching, republish our pricing as a competing feed, resell plans bought here, or interfere with the service's security. We may block access that damages the service or its partner data, and we may refuse or cancel an order we believe to be fraudulent — refunding it if we do.

09Trademarks

The JumboSIM and Jumbo names, marks and site design belong to us. Network operator names and other third-party marks belong to their owners and appear only to identify the services they operate.

10No warranty

Beyond a plan working as described in section 05, the site is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee that it will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that every price and coverage entry is accurate at the moment you read it.

11Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, our liability in connection with a plan is limited to what you paid for it, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from this site or a plan bought through it — including travel decisions made on the strength of a price or coverage entry, or costs arising from being without data.

Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.

12Changes

We may change the service or these terms. The date at the top of this page shows when the wording last moved, and the terms that apply to a purchase are the ones published when you made it.

13Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of British Columbia and the federal laws of Canada that apply there, and any dispute is subject to those courts.

This does not remove consumer-protection rights you hold under the law of the country you live in, where that law says they cannot be signed away.

14Contact

Refunds, a plan that will not connect, or whether your phone will work — our contact form reaches a person. Open it from your order link if you have one: it carries the order details into the message, so we can start on the problem rather than asking which order you mean.
